Google have a policy within their development teams that a member of their staff can have one day off per week from their specific job role, however they must do something Google related. Because of this policy Google has developed some amazing features such as Google Earth and Chrome, and due to Google's unique market position they can offer many of their great products and packages completely FREE.

The reasons and benefits of using Google Chrome are many and varied, this article will attempt to detail them here.

Features

The biggest feature of Google Chrome is the browser itself and its effortless simplicity. It is the cleanest and simplest browser available today, allowing a more efficient browsing experience, never getting in the way of the internet but working with it for a better user interface feel.

One of the most indispensable features of Google Chrome is the sync feature, allowing a user with separate machines and therefore separate Google Chrome browsers, to sync each browser with their Google account. The sync feature then keeps a copy of every bookmark that a user has and maintains their order and position within the bookmarks on every one of the synced browsers. An individual user can even customize the browser to their liking with freely available themes and motifs.

Performance

Google Chrome is built to be fast and reliable, this includes a fast start up and launch, fast loading of web content, html, CSS and JavaScript etc, and a fast search of internet based content and information.

Chrome is light weight, maintaining a small size once installed on a system, and will only grow in size if a user installs additional free add ons and extensions. Google Chrome also allows a user to duplicate, move and generally manipulate individuals tabs as if they were separate windows, parting and joining separate Google Chrome sessions with drag and drop ease. Chrome combines the address bar with their powerful search functionality to present a super clean and easy to use web browsing environment.

Compatibility

Google Chrome is available in ALL major operating system flavors, from the Microsoft Windows flavors to Mac OSX 10.5, and now even the Linux brand of operating systems, such as   Ubuntu , openSUSE and Fedora. This list is always expanding as Google Chrome develops even further with each passing month.

Security

Google's first priority when developing the Chrome browser was security and surfing safety. Google Chrome stops a user from accessing malicious websites and phishing attacks, helping to prevent a users personal data from being taken or malicious software infecting the users computer system.

Chrome will show a warning message to the user before any threat can be initialized by a web site, this is known as the Safe Browsing security feature and can be configured by the user.

Google Chrome utilizes a Sandbox layer to the browser, stopping malware from installing itself on a users computer system, and stopping one browser or tab affecting any other browsers or tabs being used. This Sandbox layer also prohibits web site monitoring activities and private data being captured by unauthorized individuals.

Chrome Auto-updates in order to keep their level of protection constantly up to date with any and all of the new and developing threats that lurk upon the internet. Auto-updates maintain the latest security features and fixes for the browser without any performance effects.
