Installing WordPress has become a process that most individuals will need to complete at some point if they are interested in setting up a website, or blogging platform.

In the past, this used to be a process to be feared by those who are new to the world of "techie-dom" (Yea, I just made that word up)! FTP, PHP,DNS, all the industry jargon seemed custom tailored to frighten away any would-be website owner...

Thankfully, in 2013 this process has been streamlined through the miracle of automated software and installation scripts. In fact, the entire process can be completed in less than 8 minutes (Beginning to end) - And along the way there is no need to screw with even an ounce of code! (Point and click - If you can do that, then you can indeed install WordPress!)

So let's get started. For the purposes of this email, let's assume that you already have your web host and domain name registered. (If you do not, I recommend you do so now. Please return once this is setup)

Step 1: Go to your cPanel. You get to this page by typing out "http://www.yourwebsite.com/cpane". (Just replace "yourwebsite.com" with your own web address)

Step 2: Log in using the user name and password you selected when you setup your web hosting and domain name.

Step 3: Look for the Quick Install icon. Normally this is located further down your page. You'll see plenty of icons, and many find this intimidating. Just ignore them, and look for the icon that will be shaped like a stop-watch, and say "Quick Install." Click on it once located.

Step 4: Click on the WordPress tab. This tab will be found on the upper left of your screen. Click on this tab, and click the Continue button when prompted.

Step 5: Now you'll be presented with a small form/fields to fill in. Please fill in only the fields instructed here, and ignore any others... Start off with the "Blog Title" field. This is simply the name of your website, what do you want to call it?

Now look for the Email field, and add your primary email address. Keep in mind that this will be the email address that your site forwards all notices, and "forgotten password" requests when needed. In other words you don't want to add a throw away email here - Make it your primary.

Once you've completed the task of filling in the appropriate fields, simply click the Install button - And let the software work its magic!

You're done! Congratulations! This leads us to the secret 6th step: Dance around the room in celebration...

I recommend that you now go visit your web address to make sure the site displays correctly. Yes, it will look rather plain and unimpressive for the time-being, but this will be remedied once you login and begin making changes to the theme. (That'll wait for another discussion!)

You're now 1 giant step closer to having a complete website. What's more, you also know how to install WordPress should the need arise again.
