Yellow Dog Linux is the only operating system you should really consider installing especially if your like me and have very little technical know how as the makers have made it to be fully compatible with the PlayStation 3. Plus it also makes the installation and operating very simple to install but before you install, during and after there are many questions that you must satisfy in your own mind before "messing" with your console; I certainly had many unanswered questions that needed to be addressed before continuing.

Yellow Dog Linux is heavily regarded in the gaming industry and you will find it the most spoke about in the open forums on the Internet. I regularly speak in forums to try to give some sort of guidance and others help me out about little questions but I always find that I have to back up whatever I find out by a fact as how can I trust free uncertified information on the Internet? The Internet has got lots of genuine people wanting to help but they are easily over-crowded by sales pages so all in all this way can be very misleading way to obtain information.

Before I installed I wanted to know why Yellow Dog Linux was the best operating system but this one is easily discovered as it was made especially for use on the PS3. It contains over 2000 user-friendly applications something that is very un-heard of compared to the other Linux operating systems such as: Ubuntu and Fedora (these being the most popular ones), of course these can also be installed on the PS3 but have little advantages over Yellow Dog Linux unless you are doing something specific, like you just need a "Server" version. These strange names are used in the same way as "Windows" brands their products with XP, Vista and 7, so no different really.

Another issue I had when searching all the free information was what happens during the installation? It seamed that everyone was happy to help but had a different story to tell, this made me feel very nervous as people were asking others questions like "is it normal if screen goes blank? Some people responded with yes and others but what I wanted as I am sure you do is just straight forward answers a reliable source that I could extract all my correct information from. I really did not want to go into this blind because I was really worried it would all go wrong. All I wanted to do was get yellow dog Linux up and running so I could have a very good dual use PlayStation 3.
