Well, by now you have found that special Joomla template that will give your website the perfect look and feel that you want to achieve. You have downloaded it and now, the last step is to install it so that you will be able to get in online and running.
There are tutorials available across the internet that will aid you in this process. All you have to do is search for them. I found a few videos that will walk you step-by-step throughout the installation process.
Through tutorialized TV, an internet website, I found a video tutorial that is perfectly suitable for this subject and you will be able to watch the mouse and where the user clicks on the actual Joomla software, right there in front of you. For those of you who do not wish to follow a video tutorial, there are step-by-step instructions available on the internet, as well.
To install a Joomla template, you will want to have your template readily available. On the back end side of your website (where the administrator, editor and the alike will log in) is where you will need to be in order to complete the installation process. If you do not have access to the back end, you will not be able to install a new theme for your website.
Once you have downloaded the design you will need to locate the folder that it was downloaded to and then extract it to a Joomla template folder that has subfolders called PSD, HTML and Joomla Template. You can extract the contents and move them by using Winzip or another software program that has the same capabilities. Once you have extracted the template and moved it, you will leave it alone for the time being.
Next, you will need to log in to your websites administrator account. The Joomla control panel page should appear once you have done this. You will then need to run your mouse over the "Installers" tab located at the top of the page. This will then bring up a menu and you will need to choose the Design-site option.
You will then be directed to the design upload page. On this page, you will need to click on the browse button. Now, locate the folder in which you moved the extracted files to in the first part of this process. Once you have found it, highlight it by double clicking on it and it should appear in the box. Next, click on the zip file located within the folder and click on "open". Now, the pop up box should have disappeared and you are back on the install theme page. The path should already appear in the box and now all you have to do is simply click on the "upload and install" button.
Now, when the uploading has returned a successful signal, click on the continue button. On the next page you will need to select the template that you just opened by clicking in the Radio Button to the left of it. Once you have done this, look up at the top and locate the "Default" button and click on it. Now, you're done! All you have to do is reload your website page and your new theme should be online!
